International Municipal BRICS Forum 2025 expands its horizons

Moscow hosted the second meeting of the Organising Committee for the preparation and holding of the International Municipal BRICS Forum 2025. The session was chaired by the Deputy Chairman of the Organising Committee, Minister of the Government of Moscow and Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, Sergey Cheremin.

Sergey Cheremin noted the great interest in the Forum from cities and regions of numerous countries and emphasised that the platform remains open to all interested parties, while maintaining a focus on cooperation within BRICS as one of its key themes.

Scale and Participants

To date, delegations from 33 countries have confirmed their participation, including Algeria, Brazil, Venezuela, Guinea, India, Iran, China, Nepal, Nigeria and others. The Organising Committee is conducting extensive work and expects the Forum’s geographical reach to exceed that of last year, with the number of participating countries surpassing 75.

Invitations have been sent to all constituent entities of the Russian Federation. Heads of cities and regions, mayors, and regional ministers from more than 35 regions have already confirmed their attendance. Participation of 500 key speakers and delegates has been agreed.

Business Programme and Partners

The architecture of the Forum’s business agenda includes 15 main thematic blocks. Key topics include:

·«PRO GOROD»: intergrated territorial development, urban planning, infrastructure

·High-tech production

·Intelligent urban planning: digitalisation and AI

·Culture, tourism, and cultural heritage sites

·People and sports: inclusion and barrier-free environment

Exhibition Area

Alongside the business programme, a large-scale exhibition will form an important part of the Forum. It will showcase investment projects and the potential of Russian regions and cities, as well as exhibitions from international participants, including a cultural display from the People’s Republic of China. Investment pitch sessions from municipalities are also planned.

A Platform for Mutual Development

Leading Russian and international organisations have joined the Forum’s organisational efforts: the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Moscow City Duma, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the All-Russian Association for the Development of Local Self-Government (VARMSU), the BRICS House, ROSATOM State Corporation, Sberbank, among others.

The Government of Saint Petersburg – the host city of the Forum – has confirmed its readiness to provide comprehensive support in the organisation and media promotion of the IMBRICS Forum. Saint Petersburg has been actively involved in shaping the programme, proposing topics related to tourism, transport, industry, ecology and culture.

Preparations for the Forum are ongoing. The next meeting of the Organising Committee is scheduled for mid-October. The official operator of the IMBRICS Forum is the Foundation for International Business Communications.
